Learn Lead Guitar – Do You Want To Play Like This?

December 11, 2008 · Posted in Datsusari · Comments Off
http://learnguitarblog.com/learn-guitar/ Do you want to learn lead guitar but you're stuck on guitar scales and the boring theory? Do you have a problem understanding how learning guitar scales and modes actually helps with learning lead guitar? Do you want to know how lead guitarists play those solo's that just seemed to flow with the song? Is there some sort of special formula you need to figure out the next note in a solo? Does one note just follow another randomly as long as it's in the same scale? Should I forget everything about scales like some of my friends and play what sounds good? A wise old guitarist once showed me the way to learn lead guitar. Here's the big secret. The easiest way to learn lead guitar is too think of it as an accompaniment to the rhythm guitar. I know what you're thinking I've got it all backwards but hear me out. When your rhythm guitarist plays a chord you should try and play the notes from that specific guitar chord in your solo. If you do this then the notes you are playing will never sound out of place. As a bonus they are always theoretically correct. At the chord changes it works really well if you are playing the root note of the chord you are changing to. So it's always important to be planning ahead and a have an idea of what note you need to be working towards.
